Design first, then motion graphics; the word “motion” seems like it should be more important when making films, but we need a map before we move. In this case, design is the process of moving emotions to a preferred state. The moving graphics are the objects we use to send emotions in the desired direction. And yes, they’re cool.

Editing makes the story; four of the hardest words to get right. The digital bulk wrestled to the matt at shoots wrap is transformed only through the experience to know what to leave out. Perhaps it’s keeping the viewer on the edge of understanding leading to the payoff or maybe offering an intimate emotional connection, but it’s always about moving the viewer forward eager for the next frame. Editing is a filter through which stories are squeezed to eliminate impurities.
